Our Story
IREN was born from a simple but powerful observation: education is not equally accessible to everyone. In many classrooms across Tanzania, visually impaired students are present — but not fully included. Learning materials arrive late, braille resources are limited, and students are often forced to depend on others to keep up. These challenges don’t come from a lack of ability, but from a lack of the right tools. We saw talented students struggling not because they couldn’t learn, but because the education system was not designed with them in mind. That moment became the foundation of IREN. What started as a question — “How can we make learning fair and accessible for all?” — grew into a mission to build inclusive solutions that work in real classrooms, homes, and communities. We chose to design and manufacture our products locally, ensuring they are affordable, relevant, and sustainable. Today, IREN is more than a set of products. It is a growing ecosystem that connects teachers, parents, and learners through inclusive devices, interactive learning models, and digital platforms. From early childhood to higher education, we are supporting independence, confidence, and equal opportunity for visually impaired learners — while strengthening inclusive education for everyone. 2025 Q1
First Pilot Deployment
We launched our initial pilot with selected schools and families, collecting critical feedback from teachers, blind learners, early-stage children, and parents. This phase confirmed the need and impact of inclusive digital learning tools.
2025 Q2
MVP Production & Expanded Piloting
We produced the first Minimum Viable Product (MVP) batch of IREN Devices, IREN Models, and Baby IREN units. A second pilot group tested the improved versions, helping us evaluate usability, durability, and curriculum alignment at scale.
2025 Q3
Production Pause & Comprehensive Refinement
Based on user feedback, we temporarily paused production to refine both hardware and software. Improvements focused on accessibility, stability, language performance, parental tools, and teacher platform integration.
2025 Q4
Refined Production Resumed (Second Batch)
With enhancements completed, we recommenced production with a higher-quality second batch of IREN Devices, Baby IREN units, and talking models—stronger, more inclusive, and ready for broader market rollout.
2024 Q1
Foundational Research & Problem Mapping
We conducted deep field research across schools, households, and inclusive education centers to understand the real challenges faced by blind learners, teachers, and parents in Tanzania. Insights from this phase shaped the core design of IREN.
2024 Q4
Concept Development & Early Prototyping
Building on our research, we designed the first IREN device concepts, Baby IREN models, and teacher platform workflows. Early prototypes were tested internally to validate functionality, accessibility, and user experience.
