IREN — Inclusive Resource for Education and Navigation IREN stands for Inclusive Resources for Education and Navigation. It is an initiative focused on making education accessible and fair for visually impaired learners, and for everyone in the learning community. In many parts of Tanzania, students with visual impairments face real challenges every day. Braille materials are limited, learning tools are expensive, and most classrooms are not designed to support them. IREN was created to change this. We design and build affordable, practical learning solutions that help students learn independently and take part fully in class. Our work includes inclusive devices, hands-on learning tools, and digital platforms that support teachers and parents. IREN supports learners from early childhood all the way to higher education. Everything we create is designed to fit real classroom environments and real needs. At IREN, we believe inclusion is not a choice it is a responsibility. By building our solutions locally in Tanzania, we are creating lasting impact, supporting local innovation, and working towards a future where every learner has a fair chance to succeed.
Real stories from students, parents, and educators who have experienced the transformative power of IREN.
"Born blind in Nigeria, Cobhams Asuquo faced a world that often underestimated the abilities of people with disabilities. Yet he refused to let blindness define his future."
"At age 13, Erik Weihenmayer lost his sight completely. Rather than allowing blindness to define his future, he pursued adventure and achieved what many thought was impossible. In 2001, he became the first blind person to summit Mount Everest and later completed the highest peaks on all seven continents. His story is a powerful reminder that disability does not limit human potential—opportunity, determination, and support unlock it."
