1 Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly to us, including:
- Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, and password when you register as a Parent, Teacher, or Headteacher.
- Student Data: Academic performance, attendance records, enrolled subjects, and learning progress — collected and managed by the school.
- Device & Usage Data: Log files, IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and interactions with the IREN platform.
- Order & Payment Information: Billing address, order history, and transaction references when purchasing IREN products or subscriptions.
- Communication Data: Messages you send through our support channels or contact forms.
2 How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and improve the IREN platform and assistive technology services.
- To manage accounts, process orders, and deliver subscriptions to schools and families.
- To send OTP codes and security notifications for account authentication and password recovery.
- To communicate updates, product announcements, and educational resources.
- To monitor platform performance and diagnose technical issues.
- To comply with applicable laws and regulations.
3 How Schools and Parents Enrol
School Enrolment
- Schools are onboarded directly through Porto Limited.
- A Headteacher account is created and the school is assigned a unique identifier.
- The Headteacher adds teachers and students through the school management dashboard.
- Subscription plans are activated upon confirmation of payment.
- IREN devices are registered to the school and linked to teachers who upload and manage educational content.
Parent Enrolment
- Parents register independently at iren.porto.africa/parents/signup/.
- A valid email address and phone number are required to complete registration.
- After registration, parents can subscribe to an IREN family plan.
- Parents can track their child's learning progress and receive reports through the platform.
4 Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data in the following circumstances:
- Within the school: Student data is accessible to the assigned Headteacher and Teachers of that school only.
- Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services (e.g., SMS gateways, email providers) solely to operate our platform.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5 Data Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to help protect the information we hold. These include:
- Hashed and salted passwords — plain-text passwords are never stored.
- One-time passwords (OTP) for identity verification during authentication and password recovery.
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers.
- Role-based access controls that limit data visibility to authorised personnel only.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is entirely risk-free. We encourage users to use strong, unique passwords and to contact us promptly if they suspect any unauthorised access to their account.
6 Children's Privacy
IREN serves students, including minors. Student data is managed solely by the school (Headteacher and Teachers) and is not used for advertising or shared with third parties. Parents may request access to their child's data by contacting us or their school directly.
7 Your Rights
- Access, update, or delete your personal account information at any time from your profile.
- Request a copy of data we hold about you by contacting iren@porto.africa.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
- Request deletion of your account by contacting our support team.
